Remember that time I went into crazy stalker mode and went all starry-eyed on you because none other than Rachel Vanoven herself shot Arleigh’s newborn session? If you don’t remember, you can relive the gushiness HERE. Just a recap in case you are being lazy and don’t feel like clicking on that link: My newborn “career” started back in 2011 when a friend asked me to photograph her newborn. All I had was an entry level camera and approximately 0% skills. I shot with my camera on auto for crying out loud. So, when my friend asked me to do the session, I scoured the internet for anything I could find that would help me. Enter Rachel Vanoven’s first workbook. I’m talking about the workbook before the first Eworkshop. It was a guide that you could download that  had pictures of different poses and general newborn tips. I printed that bad boy off, took it with me to the session, and did pretty good if I do say so myself.
Okay, so it wasn’t great, but it was pretty dang good for my first session ever and I totally credited Rachel’s first guide. Well, shortly after, she came out with the first Newborn Eworkshop and that thing literally changed my life. The videos, the interactive Facebook group, it was like a slice of heaven had landed on my computer and my newborn work really started to take off.
When Rachel started talking about revising the Eworkshop, I will admit that I was a little skeptical that the new one would be any better than the first one. The first one was perfect, had so many helpful tips, tricks, amazing videos, everything. So, how much more could she give in a new one? Ummm, yeah, this new Eworkshop (releasing on Friday to the public) is AMAZING. I downloaded it at midnight last night, stayed up and watched the videos and read everything, and literally felt like jumping up and down on my bed when I was finished. I consider myself to be a pretty experienced newborn photographer at this point, not thinking I would take too much away from the new one, but seriously, this new Eworkshop is like the best thing since, well, since the last Eworkshop!! I cannot say enough good things about this one. Rachel has really poured her heart and soul into this newest one. It is beautiful, interactive, so incredibly informative and has touches of Rachel all over it. I feel like I learned so much more from this new one, so many things that I was doing just a little bit wrong that I didn’t even realize. She covers everything from posing to editing to interacting with and preparing for the session. Even for someone who has been shooting newborns for awhile (that sounds bad. Shooting them with a camera. You know what I mean.) every bit of this newest Eworkshop was helpful to me in some way. Whether it was reviewing techniques that I already knew, or learning something completely new, I feel like I have so much more to bring to my next newborn session. The videos are amazing and make you feel like you are right there with Rachel at the session and the written part is amazing and interactive, which is so cool. There are examples of what to do and not to do, which is extremely helpful! This guide rocks my flipping socks off. Seriously, buy it. It will be the best thing you have ever done for your business. Not even kidding.
