TCU Baby | Fort Worth Newborn Photographer | Kelsey Ray Photography
Any TCU fans out there? I have had a few requests over the years to incorporate sports memorabilia for different colleges, football, baseball and even hockey teams. Each newborn session is uniquely different, however, in that I can’t always plan to do the same setup with the same helmet or the same glove because some babies just don’t want to pose the same way. When Baby C’s parents mentioned that they wanted to do a shot with a TCU helmet, I started brainstorming ways to pull this shot off as smoothly and safely as possible. Obviously you would never just lay a baby on a helmet and take some shots. If you are doing that, PLEASE STOP! For this particular shot, it was all about building a platform up behind the helmet for Baby C to actually lay on and then have the helmet positioned perfectly in front of him so that it was a natural resting spot. Of course, Dad’s hands were on him the entire time. It takes about 2 seconds to edit Dad out of the final shot and is so much safer than just trying to rest a baby on the helmet with no support. I have done variations of this pose in the past, and sometimes babies will just go easily onto the helmet and sometimes they just don’t. Baby C went right down, got comfortable and slept, well, he slept like a baby! I think that could be a sign that TCU is in his future considering how at ease he was on the helmet. Start preparing now, Mom and Dad!
The rest of Baby C’s session was equally as easy and relaxing and I have picked a few of my favorites to share with you!
