When you are a newborn photographer, you also take on the role of maternity photographer, which I love. Getting to meet the parents before they actually become parents is always such a neat experience, especially when you are working with first time parents. I love talking with them and hearing the excitement and nervousness in their voices as they discuss their baby, the name they have picked out, room color schemes, birth plans, and just about everything else baby related. I love to ask them questions and just hear all about their experience so far. Having been through the process three times now myself, you realize pretty quickly just how different each pregnancy is, and it is always interesting to hear my maternity clients’ journey thus far. I met with Ashly and Jared just a little over a week ago, and instantly could feel the love the excitement they shared for this new baby. They are an amazing couple, which I figured out in just the short time I was with them, and I know they are going to be phenomenal parents. One thing that stuck out to me from their session was something that Ashly said about Jared. It was such a small thing, but it just showed me how much they love each other and how much love they are going to have to give to their new baby. During one of the poses, I asked them to look at each other like they loved each other (something I say to most all of my clients, which usually gets a laugh or a sweet look). Ashly immediately responded back with how much they really do love each other and how in love they were. It was such an amazing thing to hear and my heart just felt so full being around them. I was honored to be their maternity photographer and I cannot wait to serve them as their newborn photographer in the coming weeks!
